~My Reason For Our Blog~
"You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences." — Gordon B. Hinckley

Happy Birthday Ward

Happiest of birthdays, and may all your wishes come true!
Ward loves to BBQ! I think it could be classified as one of his hobbies! He loves to BBQ and he's good at it! This year for his birthday most of his gifts were centered around BBQing. He was so pleased! The girls also gave him the golf balls they won at golf this week. We had a wonderful family party honoring our special man!!

Summer Golf

The girls wanted to take golf again this Summer, we started out with once session and ended up taking all of them. They are doing so well. It is fun to watch them. Raychel is really getting the hang of this game! One the last day of lessons they got to play 3 holes. Raychel was hitting it farther then she ever has, and Jolene is really good at chipping an putting. The girls have also been playing on the Junior golf league along once a week. It has been the perfect weather for golfing this Summer.

Story Time

I love this girl! During the Summer, when we're home, I like to have the girls spend time alone in their rooms, reading, writing, doing math, or just having some quiet time. On this day Jolene wasn't all that happy with me. She said it's boring! I told her to get creative and make it fun! When I went up to check on her she had placed her favorite animals on the floor and was reading out loud to them for "story time" you know mom like I use to go to at the library?"

Sister Sleepover

This is the normal around here. We have seriously thought about putting them in the same room and making the other room a dressing room, but they still need some time apart, don't they?!

Relay For Life

This is our second year doing Relay for Life. The girls and I have joined with Jodi and her team to walk. It starts at about 6pm at the High School Stadium and goes until about 9am the following morning. Several months before the walk we get registered and raise $100 each to pledge for our walk. The night is pack with fun. There are several different teams that pitch their tents around the stadium along with everything they will need for the night. BBQ, fire pits, canopies, chairs and lots of food. Each team decorates their tents to go along with the theme, the best team wins. The main rule is to have someone from the team on the track at all times during the night. Once it is dark there is a wonderful ceremony in honor of those who are battling cancer, have lost the fight and those who care for them. Around the track are bags with little lights in them and a persons name on the bag to honor them. The stadium light are turned off and everyone walks around the track after the honor ceremony. It is very humbling and very reverent. This year it really hit Jolene what all the bags meant, she was surprised how many names she knows. We talked about all the others we know who's names were not on the bags.
Throughout the night there are games booths, food booths, hot chocolate, and lots of music! When we got home in the morning Jolene laid on the couch and fell asleep for most of the day

Sister Sleepovers

The girls have enjoyed sister sleepovers for as long as I can remember. They love this time together. It doesn't matter where they sleep as long as it is together. I love the friendship these two share. The laugh, talk, tell stories, share secrets, giggle and finally fall asleep. I hope these days never end!

Trampoline and Sprinklers

The girls love to turn the sprinklers on and play on the trampoline! The more girls on there the better. There was so much laughing and giggling coming from this group. They had so much fun!

Colorado River

Every year with the snow melt offs coming from the mountains the river here in town gets pretty high and running fast. This year is was the highest we had ever seen it. We had heard it was the highest it has been in 25 years. The town brought it dirt to build up the river banks to prevent the river from flooding the street. It was amazing to see how much the river rise over night. Now the river is down and flowing normal until the next winter run off.

Family Gifts

There is nothing more important then family. It doesn't matter if it is my family or another family, families are the best! June is my mother's birthday month. I always struggle what to get her, she has everything, if she doesn't she will just go out and get it. I put in a lot of thought on do I send her a gift card to her favorite restaurant, a clothing store, or a bookstore. None of these seemed very personal. I asked the girls what we should get grandma for her birthday and it was Raychel who said to make her one of our tiles. What a great idea! We love to make these and they are small enough to sit out all the time and admire. My mom loves little trinket items and photos so this was perfect!

I heard after the fact that my sweet little niece got baptized over the weekend. We are so proud of her and wish we could be there for her special day. Jolene and I love making these great little CTR towels for our friends and family. So we made Sierra one and sent it to her a little late!
