~My Reason For Our Blog~
"You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences." — Gordon B. Hinckley

~Helping Dad~

Just before we got married Ward spent a week putting an amazing stereo system in his truck, when we sold the truck he took the stereo out and has stored it ever since. Finally the day has come for it to go in the car. He drives many miles everyday and thought it would be nice to have a better system in the car. We picked up a few things he needed to make it possible and got to work. It was fun watching him tear the car apart, taking all the seats out, the carpet and getting to work. Jolene was pretty excited when she saw all this fun dad was having and changed her clothes so she could help too. She was so excited to sit in the car after it was finished and listen to her favorite CD with dad. What a great dad, as she helped and they worked together she felt on top of the world!

Easter

He lives, all glory to his name!

He lives, my Savior, still the same:

O the sweet joy this sentence gives,

"I know that my Redeemer lives."

What a beautiful Easter!
Soon after we got up we headed to the kitchen to check on our Resurrection Cookies we made last night.  As you make these cookies it tells a wonderful story.  We sealed them in a warm oven and went to bed with much anticipation of what we would find in the morning.
The girls looked so beautiful in their new Spring/Easter dresses.  The sun was out most of the day after a a night of much rain. We spent the the afternoon enjoying the day, enjoying great food, a movie and of course our Easter Bunny Cake!!

Easter Eve

What a great Easter Eve!!
It has rained most of the day hard at times and sprinkling at other times. We had so much fun today as a family. Jolene and I made cute little cupcakes with peeps sitting on a coconut nest that we took out to a few friends. Then we got busy boiling eggs, coloring the eggs, making our bunny cake and making Resurrection Cookies.  It was a great way to bring in the Easter feeling. We sealed the warm oven and put the girls the girls to bed with much anticipation of what they would find in the morning.  I love Easter time. I love reflecting on my Savior and the example I can follow, I love the feeling of Spring finally in the air, and I love to see the girls in their new Spring/Easter dresses.
It has been a wonderful day!!!

Resurrection Cookies

After all the Easter Eve fun was done and just before we put the girls to bed we made Resurrection Cookies What a great visual way to tell the story of the resurrection.  After we made the cookies and sealed them in a warm oven the girls went to bed with much anticipation of what they would look like in the morning.

More Wind

This week has been cold, windy and lots of rain. We were at Jolene's soccer practice when the wind really picked up. By the time we had gotten home the wind was really blowing. The girls were helping me fix dinner when we heard this really loud noise coming from outside. When we looked out the front windows there were several garbage cans rolling down the street, shingles were blowing off roof tops and a few lawn chair cushions were flying in the air. It was really a sight to see. With all the tornado's happening around the country this wind was nothing, but it sure left a footprint when it was over. In the morning as we drove to school we saw this beautiful, big, old, tree completely blown over roots and all. We learned the wind last night got up to 55mph! So grateful to have been inside safe, and no major damage to our home except a few missing shingles.

Tree Farm Field Trip

Finally a day of sunshine, but don't let that fool you, it was still pretty cold. The second graders have been studying plants and trees this quarter in science so they were able to go on a field trip to the Tree Farm. It isn't too far from the school so we were able to walk. The kids were all so excited to be outside all together. As we walked the wind picked up which only made the air colder. We were given the tour of the Tree Farm and how it all works, shown the different kinds of trees, lots of plants and don't forget the flowers. The were encouraged to bring their parents back to get their Spring plants. As we left they were given a little pansy as a souvenir. It was a nice field trip with so much to see, smell, and learn about. It was too bad so many of the kids were so cold with the wind continuing to picking up. We headed back to school just in time for lunch.

This field of purple flowers was on our walk near the school.

First Soccer Game

It was a great first soccer game!

The kids were all excited and ready to W-I-N! And they did!!

It was 3-0.
The kids were having so much fun and cheering each other on when it was their time to sit out. It was nice to have the sun out, if only Spring soccer could be warmer!! Hopefully has the little season goes on it will warm up!

Tulips

We worked in the yard all day Saturday and wondered when our tulips would blossom and what colors they would be. Then this morning we woke up to our tulips showing us their beautiful colors. It means Spring really is coming. Some days with all the snow, wind and cold days we wonder if Spring has passed us up. To see the flowers blossom and start a new season gives renewed life to the rest of us who have been waiting for this day. I don't know who was more excited to see the tulips this morning me or Jolene!

Sunday Photo

The weather may be cool and overcast but that wont stop Jolene from going outside! She loves it outside. She wanted to "practice" her soccer skills from her coach. She talked Raychel into going out with her but then quickly benched her because she didn't know the skills. Ward said she is one hard coach! We all enjoyed some family time outside even Drake. Today at church the talk in sacrament meeting was really good! He asked a question which went along with Sunday school and was asked again. "What is it you desire most?" Like most of the questions we are asked in the lessons each week, as I have gone through this day I have gone back to this question. As I watched the girls play and laugh, as we sat as a family and had dinner and discuss the things in our lives, as we read the scriptures before bed and said family prayers, as I knelt next to the girls as they said their personal prayer and I heard their desires it made smile because I know what I desire most, eternal joy for me and my family. So go ahead and ask yourself "What is it you desire most?"
