~My Reason For Our Blog~
"You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences." — Gordon B. Hinckley

Vega Lake

Our favorite place in the world!
The day was beautiful, the weather was perfect and the weekend was off to a great start.
We love it here.
We pulled in, set up, and started the fun.
We ate, went on walks, went down by the lake, fixed dinner, Raychel helped made a fire,
made s'mores, watched movies and slept so well!!
There is something about the fresh air that makes everything better.  I wish the weekend could go slower then the normal day so we can enjoy it longer and not have to go back to reality so soon.

Driving Lessons

This is going to be a great weekend!!  We are headed to the cabin!  Ward pulled the van out the driveway so we could load the truck easier as he was getting ready to pull the van in Raychel teased she wanted to do it. He laughed and gave her the keys. She was shocked, excited and couldn't stop smiling!  She did really well.  It is hard to look at her sitting there, in a few years it will be for real!  She is growing up so fast.

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

110 grams large shrimp, peeled and deveined with the tails attached
1 1/2 t. chopped fresh parsley
1T fresh lemon juice
1/2 clove minced garlic
1/4 t. dried oregano
1/8 t. salt
1/8 t. ground black pepper
skewers

In a mixing bowl, mix together parsley, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper.  Pour marinade into a small resealable plastic bag with shrimp.  Seal, and marinate in the refrigerator for 2 hours.  Preheat grill for medium-low heat.  Thread shrimp onto skewers, piercing once near the tail and once near the head.  Cook shrimp for 5 minutes per side, or until opaque.

After I marinade the shrimp I put then in a pan and heat them through.  They are amazing!!!

Cool Down

It has been a beautifullly warm Summer day, except to Drake.  He thinks it has been a HOT Summer day.  Raychel took pity on him and let him out to spray him down.  He loved it.  He just sat there allowing her to cool him down, but then once he got cooled down he ran around her playing in the water enjoying the freedom and cool water.

Changes

Raychel loves to rearrange her room, get a new comforter and paint her walls.  She thinks she needs to change everything about once a year.  She has really been into green this year and wanted her walls green and all Paris decorations.  She has been buying different decorations and looking at comforters for several weeks.  Today while she was over at a friends for the day Jolene and I decided to surprise her by painting her walls green.  It turned out really nice.  We just hope she likes it as well as we do.

Good~bye

We all meet up at the Golden Corral for breakfast with Grandma before we all headed our different directions.  It was a nice visit that of course wasn't long enough.  This was the trip before Christopher heads off on his mission.  He will be leaving at the end of the Summer, he will serve in Nevada.  It is such an exciting time for him, so much to look forward to.  I am glad our schedules worked out for us to beable to spend some time with them and let the kids get to know each other a little better.

The Zoo

What a great weekend!  We took off very early Saturday morning to get to Utah to visit my sister Carey and her family.  We meet them at the Zoo and had a great time.  The cousins hadn't seen each other in a few years so they were pretty shy at first.  The girls slowly warmed up to 3 crazy teenage boys. They had fun hanging out, being teased and getting to know them better.  We rode the train around the zoo and got to see some of the sights you can't see by foot.  After the zoo we all went back to Grandma Pearls to visit and eat then headed to our hotel to swim.  The kids had so much fun.  The girls didn't know what to think of the boys and their idea of play.  They rough house differently then they do.  They mostly just watched, it was safer.  The girls were so tired by the time the pool closed.  They had no trouble falling asleep.
