~My Reason For Our Blog~
"You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences." — Gordon B. Hinckley

Girls On The Run

For the past 9 weeks Raychel has participated in an after school program for the 3rd and 4th graders at her school called Girls On The Run.

It's an amazing program to teach young girls self-esteem, healthy physical habits, developing good relationships, and positive self body image.

The first hour they would have a mini class with stretching exercises, then the last 30-45 minutes they would train for the big 5K run at the end of the course.

On Saturday May 2 was the BIG event, it was for the girls in our area and all girls and women in the surrounding areas, there were over 1000 women who participated.

Anxiously waiting for the race to startRaychel and I just before the race began

Raychel did great! She ran almost the whole race, it

was great running past those we knew and

hearing them shout her name although I

think Jolene was her

loudest cheerleader!!

She set the pace and

didn't slow down much.

At the finish line she saw her dad!! I think the smile

on her face speaks loud and clear, she had a great time.

I am so very proud of her and her desire to do this.

When she bought the sign up home and realized

it was the same time as ballet

she made a choice,

she wanted to run,

she wanted to try something new.

She tried and succeed!! She can't wait for next year!!
